PIKA Weihenstephan™ FastOrange™ Brett Broth is a concentrated culture medium developed for the simplified detection of Brettanomyces (aka Brett) in wine, beer, and other beverages, and within in-process samples. Brettanomyces and Dekkera are interchangeably used to describe a genus of non-spore-forming yeast that is a common cause of beer and wine spoilage. Upon incubation of beer or other in-process beverage samples in PIKA Weihenstephan™ FastOrange™ Brett Broth, the presence of Brettanomyces is identified by an easy-to-read color change; the media changes from violet to yellow and this color change is evident even in turbid samples. The media is selective for Brettanomyces and contains antibiotics to inhibit the growth of other microorganisms.• Versatile—suitable for all beer types including clear and turbid samples
